Coco?

Does anyone know how to get one of the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse books with Coco? From what I have read, they are only available from providers (which is SO lame, they would make $$ selling them to us!) I called Adam's endo today and they haven't heard of it. Are they not being sent to doctors yet? I would LOVE one to read to Adam's kindergarten class this year...speaking of which, if I can't get my hands one one of those, do y'all have any favorite diabetes books or info that is child-friendly? The Rufus book we have is a bit too involved for a bunch of kindergarteners, I think.

  1. I had to make one for Joe. You can scope it out and steal whatever you want. It is on my side-bar of Beta Buddies. I haven't really liked anything I have seen out there. I think Lexi liked a super-hero one...or Leighann. Not sure which one it was.

Good luck...and I know nothing about the monkey. :)

  2. I want one of the monkey books for reading to the class as well. I don't know how or where to get them. I read "Taking Diabetes to School" to Natalie's preschool class and they were totally into it. I changed the wording on a few pages and skipped a couple things, but it worked out and the kids were great and VERY interested.

  3. We used Lara takes Charge. She wears a pump in the book, so it is similar to what The Superhero would be wearing. It worked for his pre-school class last year. (Link for the book: http://www.amazon.com/Lara-Takes-Charge-Rocky-Lang/dp/0975418408/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1311128121&sr=8-1)

And the Superhero one is: http://www.amazon.com/Even-Superheroes-Get-Diabetes-Ganz-Schmitt/dp/1598583034/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1311128167&sr=1-1

We like the Superhero one too, but read it at home. It is a longer book and I don't think a class of kiddos would sit through it. :)

I want a monkey book too!

  5. For sure they should sell the Coco books!! I also think the Rufus story is good for us at home, but too long and involved for the kiddos at school. We also use Lara Takes Charge. I follow up with a letter to the parents to be sent home on the day that we visit the class. I think I borrowed the parent letter from Heidi @D-Tales or Reyna. But if I am happy to share my copy if you can't find theirs. Just let me know. I have had many parents tell me how much they appreciated the information. Knowledge is power!
